What do you list as your occupation?

Today I had my first opportunity to fill out "Occupation" on a form since I've been home. I wasn't sure what to list. I have a "career" that someday I'll go back to. For some reason, it bothered me to write down "stay at home mom" or "homemaker" , and also bothered me to write down what I used to do. What do you say when people ask your occupation?

I still write my old job bc I am using there insurance under cobra. Im sure that doesnt matter, its just easier bc I am the policy holder.

I've been in my field for a long time, and it's hard to act like my work is just gone. Also, I'm in such a newborn fog that "homemaker" makes me feel like I'm a complete failure in our home -- everything is a wreck! This also doesn't feel like a job to me because I never get break from it.

No, I feel a little 1950s when I put it down on paperwork, but I also feel pretty lucky.

I've used Homemaker and Domestic Engineer depending who was asking.

If you are just on maternity leave or are planning on returning to work soon you could always just put your previous job title on it.

We had to fill out paperwork when buying our car. I filled out my portion first and then handed it to my husband. Under the "income" part of my form, he wrote in "priceless" for me. I was touched.

I joke and tell people I am a CEO. they look at me like I'm crazy. I say "Yes, a CEO at Kapfer Inc." I am the CEO of my family. DH is my CFO.  : )

Depends on my mood nad how formal the paperwork is. I have wrote: homemaker, stay at home mom, domestic goddess, and babymaker. (the babymaker one is kinda an 'inside' joke, what helps explain it is that we're Catholic)
