No dice, I'm a criminal! $526!!

We waited in the long check in line, then went to the very very very crowded courtroom, where you must remain silent. Ha! Simon kept laughing laughing laughing- because all the people sitting in there kept making faces at him!- and the baliff told me I may have to be removed from the courtroom. He was so nice but you know, you just have to be quiet in there.
So then he didn't want to remove me so he took my paperwork and moved me to the front of the docket (score!). Here's how it went down:
Judge: So, you brought an entourage? Which one of you bozos was driving the car? (yes, he actually said that)
Me: Me, your honor.
J: How do you plead?
M: Guilty, but I'm here to please, your Honor, please ask you to consider reducing my fees.
J: The only way I can do that is with community service and it looks like you have your hands full. (a$$hole!)
M: I'd be happy to do community serivce, I actually already regularly do community service, but if I do that can I go to traffic school?
J: No, if you do community service you have to take the point on your lisence. Would you like to do that?
M: No. Your Honor...
J: It doesn't matter what you say or do, I can't and won't reduce the fee.
M: Ok then. Thank you.
And then I bent over and paid $526.

Did you see the camera flash? I clearly saw it go off. I almost had time to smile. When I got home I told DH, "Uh, I think I'm effed."
Like I said before, I'm a VERY cautious driver. You can see on the tape (yes, they have TAPE of it) that I was going to stop and then I split second decided to go through, mostly because I didn't feel like I had enough time to stop and I've been rear-ended 2 X's so I am terrified of stopping quickly.
It was an intersection though that is FULLY quipped with all kinds of crazy cameras. Clearly our State needs some revenue so they set up these fancy schmancy traps.
But, on my notice it said just as of Jan 1 they REDUCED the fine to $470 from $870 (CRAP!). So I guess it could have been worse. Tough pill to swallow esp because I don't think a live cop would have given me a ticket. Ugh.
I hope you guys are in the clear!!

I didn't but my DH said he wasn't sure. It seriously F'd up our day! I remembered what you said and I was freaking out. It had ALL sorts of camera's on it. Were almost all the way through and it turned red. Your right though, if I just boldy stop at yellow lights I am going to get rear ended and then what?! I just can't believe the price of the violation. It makes me angry when the little people get beat up on because the big people f up the budget. don't get me started, sorry you had to deal with that. Especially as if Whole Paycheck Foods isn't expensive enough.
Sacramento. I was shocked at his demeanor. He was like that with everyone, too, not just me. I thought having the kids might muster some sympathy but I guess I was wrong!
It's pretty uncalled for. Plus I'm suprised he would say something like that because it's "on the record" and recorded in court minutes.
Sorry you didn't get a break for the ticket. That is a ton of cash"ola"
