My friends and I were talking at lunch and I get anally probed at every single gyn appt. My friends all say this doesn't happen to them. So...normal or not?
I went to a new gyno one time and had this happen. She didn't even say she was going to do it, so it was awkward and uncomfortable. I switched gyno's the very next day and have never experienced that since.
Well this is just weird, right? I'm going to ask at my next appointment whats up in the butt? Ha ha. I wonder if they are like, billing insurance for it, or if they just like doing it, or if it's some medical check that some doctors feel is important and others don't. Either way, my ob/gyn is a hotty mchotterson and to tell you the truth, Ive never disliked it. DH doesn't "go there".
I'm speechless, had NO idea they do that! I am 34, been to a gyno at least once a year since I was 16 and thank goodness have NEVER had my heiney hole touched! If they do that at 35 I am never going back again!
I'm 38 weeks with my second baby and the only time my butt has been touched when for GBS swaps. I don't think she even does anything with I get a pap, but maybe I'm wrong on that... just can't remember.
My old doc did it every time, my new doc doesn't... at least I don't think she did... I've only ever had one annual since I started seeing her. They do it to check he wall between your vagina and rectum.
I think it's pretty common practice once you're over 35.
Watch your mouth! Lol. I'm 25.
Then apparently you're special. Mine did it once a few years ago (she asked first) and then told me that it'll start being normal during annuals once I turn 35.

I think it is more normal to perform the procedure if you have a family history of certain disorders are over a certain age.... but I have never had one. I think my mother is due for her first soon, but she's in her 50s.

My very 1st Gyno appt was with the health department (no insurance) and they did a rectal exam. She said it was to feel the back of the uterus to make sure everything was ok with it I guess.

I don't take one single minute for granted.
Obviously there is a valid reason since it seems half OB/GYNs do this during routine exams. I just decided it would probably not be wise to google for the reason at work.
