My genre likes are all over the freaking board. I will honestly read about anything. Favorite author is probably Chuck Palahniuk or Nick Hornby. Or John Krakaur. See? All over the board.

Yes, After many years of being in school and feeling bad about reading books for enjoyment instead of my textbooks, I love to read now. I usually like suspense novels and I really like Jodie Picoult (sp?)

Mine too! It's one of the few books I feel the need to have both on my Nook & in hard copy. My H thinks this is insane, but whatever.
I'm all over the board. Recently I've been into Mafia books. I just read "The Ice Man" (it's the true story of a mafia hit man who was also a family man). I recently read The Gold Coast, a Nelson DeMille book.
I also enjoy autobiography type books (particularly when written by comedians). I love Chelsea Handler's books, I just bought Tina Fey's book.
And, the Harry Potter series is one of my all time favorites. I've read them all at least 4 times. My name is Delish and I am a geek.
I read YA. Got sucked in with the Harry Potter then Twilight craze. I just finished the Mortal Instruments series and I am currently reading a book called Poison Study. I don't have a "favorite" author off the top of my head. I do also enjoy the occasional chick lit book, also any of Jenn Lancaster's books -- she makes me pee my pants laughing.

I am all over the place too- I am a book dork, and if anyone hands me a book I will try it at least.. but my 3 favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Jodi Picoult, and James Patterson.
I usually go for classics. I'll peruse a top 100 list or something to find books that I haven't read before. Right now I'm reading Lord of the Rings, I've actually never read them before, so I'm excited to get through them.
My favorite author is probably Jane Austen or C.S. Lewis

I'm a huge nerd and LOVE to read. I read all genres (although dime store Westerns aren't usually my thing), but i've always loved books loaded with magical realism. A lot of Latin American authors use this technique (i.e. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabelle Allende), and one of my favorite American authors does as well.
I have pretty much every single book by Alice Hoffman (minus a few I have lost and her children/teen books - although I will get those for my DD), so I would have to say she is my favorite author.
I just finished the whole The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. They were good. I usually like crime/mystery type novels. I've recently become keen on James Patterson's Womens' Murder Club series.
I like anything that is a good book and gets going quick enough that I'm not bored with it before 100 pages in. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo took a while to get good, but after 100 pages it got pretty good. I was seriously contemplating not continuing to read it, though.
I love to read. I'll pretty much read anything. We have bookshelves for walls in our house since I hate parting with books. I got a kindle while on mat leave though and I thought I would miss the pages in my hands but I am actually really loving it.
Right now I am reading, This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper. It's great. He is a funny writer. For funny reads, I love him, David Sedaris, Chuck, and Jen Lancaster.
For YA I LOVED Hunger Games and The Book Thief.
I also love to read historical fiction, chick lit (I don't discriminate and Jennifer Weiner is one of my faves), biographies. Pretty much anything!
I'm stuck in the past and I'm a nerd. I love reading 19th century and early 20th century literature. Right now I'm reading Moby *** for fun...when LO was first born I spent my nighttime nursing/pumping sessions reading Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Jungle. People always try to recommend contemporary lit, but I just can't get into it.
I also like fantasy, though it's been a long time since I've read any. I used to be way into Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar books.
No one favorite author, but Toni Morrison always comes to mind as outstanding.
I'm a big sci-fi/fantasy nerd. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, Orson Scott Card's Enders Game series, Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series, and I'll admit I do love Harry Potter.
I don't discriminate. I read everything I can get my hands on. Really, I was once so desperate for a book I read my friends book by a Neurosurgeon. It was disgusting and each page made me want to put it down but it was also oddly facinating and I didn't have anything better to read.
With that said, I love time period pieces (even some of the trashier stuff by Philippa Gregory) by Margaret George... I've even read about 90% of Nora Roberts stuff and I love classics (Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Gone with the Wind).
I also recommend anything by Jen Lancaster if you want narratives that will really make you laugh... she's great.
Mystery, suspense, romance, historical fiction, those are my faves. Favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Patricia Cornwell, Mary Higgins Clarke, Jannette Oke. Like a pp, I have always loved reading but loathed reading for school. I think one reason I'm not a fan of most classics is because I was forced to read them. Makes me sad sometimes; I want to like them, generally speaking...
Re: Since this board is full of random polls today:
I do usually like the Oprah's Book Club picks, BUT..if I'm reading for pure trash and pleasure, I'm a total sucker for cheap drama and romance.
I think I've read every Danielle Steel book. I think I can feel brain cells dying as I read this.

Love stories, mysteries, and true crime.
Favorite true crime author is Ann Rule.
I don't discriminate as far as genre goes, although if I'm going to read nonfiction I prefer it to be narrative.
I am currently re-reading an awesome fantasy novel called "A Game of Thrones" for an off-board book club.
Next I will probably re-read the Sookie Stackhouse series in anticipation of the 11th book coming out in May.
ETA: Favorite authors include Jane Austen, Michael Malone, Ferroll Sams, Neil Gaiman, Tim Tyson, F. Scott Fitzgerald.
- i just finished Fragile Beasts by Tawni O'Dell
- my favorite authors are Steven King & Jodi Picoult
- i'll read just about anything on the end racks at Target
- i prefer "real life like" books. no sci fi or mysteries or anything. ...and twilight. lol.

Stephen King, I've read almost everyone of his books.
But... will read almost anything...Just finished Water for Elephants.
I also can't wait for the new Sookie Stackhouse.

How was that? Back Roads by O'Dell is my all time favorite book. I couldn't get into Sister Mine, though.
Right now I'm reading Her Fearful Symmetry and am enjoying.
I also love all of David Sedaris' works when I need a laugh (When you are Engulfed in Flames is my fav)

I like the books from the teen section at the library. I'll read anything there.
Oh, yeah. Palahniuk is awesome. Good call.
it was awesome! i finished it in one day. sister mine didn't appeal to me either- meh.

I'm pretty open, but I generally migrate to 20th century fiction. J.D. Salinger and George Orwell are two favorites.
I love reading so much that I will read pretty much any book. I tend to like thrillers and historical books a lot though.
My favorite authors are Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, J.R.R. Tolkien and Philippa Gregory.
I will admit I have read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy cover to cover 11 times. So that would have to be my favorite series.
I am currently reading Immanuel's Veins by Ted Dekker.

LMAO....TB censored Moby D!ck.
Forgot to add that I did read Chuck Palahniuk (sp?) stuff a couple years ago and loved it...highly disturbing but so gripping!
