For the 2nd day in a row

DD refused to go back to sleep after her early morning feeding. Angry Normally, she gets up between 5-6 eats for about 10-15 minutes, then goes back to sleep until 7:30 or 8. Yesterday, she was up at 4:45, nursed, then got back up at 6:15 with no intention of going back to sleep. Today, she woke up at 6 and refused to go back to sleep. Both days, I've let her fuss/cry/play in her crib until 7.

I know the seemingly obvious answer to this is "just get your butt out of bed and get her up" but this creates a problem with her naps. She usually goes down about 2 hours after wake up for her AM nap and then about 3-3.5 hrs after she wakes for her PM nap. If she wakes up that early, her entire schedule is moved up at least 1.5-2 hrs and she is a mess by about 4 or 5 because she's so tired. I have put her to bed at 7 for the last 2 nights because she seems so overtired, but that hasn't helped. Any thoughts on why she's refusing to go back to sleep after her early morning feeding?

Re: For the 2nd day in a row

  • Layna dropped the second nap at 14 months.  We had a few weeks of hell while she readjusted everything and it ended up where she'd wake up between 7-8 am then take a nap from 12 - 2ish.  Bedtime between 7-8pm.

I don't know if that's what your DD is doing but they do completely change up their patterns every so often.  Be prepared :)

  • We dropped down to one nap a few weeks after her first birthday. Maybe her schedule is just changing. We were up at 4:30 this morning so I am feeling your pain today!
  • DD wakes between 5-6am (and yes, a few 4 somethings) and naps a noon for at least 2hrs.

We try to get her down by 7pm, but it is usually between 7 and 8pm.

I don't remember when exactly she dropped the morning nap, but it seemed around 1yr or so.

A day that we are still sleeping past 6am is a rare treat these days....

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Pregnancy Ticker
