1 year well check

m has hers tomorrow. she is on the regular vax schedule.

everyone is different i know, but are we in for a sleepy and cranky kiddo tomorrow after all that?

is the rest of the well check like the others in the past? anything different this time around?

Re: 1 year well check

  • Layna had no reaction to her 12 months shots.  She had gotten a lot that day, too.  We were behind and needed to catch up.  No fever, no sleepiness, nothing.  Of course, every child is different but that was our experience.

Its just like every other check up.

  • Ours was no biggie, but we see our pedi quite often since DD is sick a lot (seemingly). We're on an alternate vax schedule, so all she got was Varicella. On day 9, her injection site got a huge knot on it and got really red. When I called, the nurse told me that both Varicella and MMR are live vaccines and it usually takes 7-10 days for a reaction to occur. Thankfully, the redness did go away and it now just looks like a bruise of some sort. She wasn't fussy or sleepy at all. I have read not to schedule anything "major" for up to 2 weeks after MMR because of possible reactions and fussiness. Just my thoughts.

  • No advice since we only are having our 4 month visit. Just wanted to say your siggy is cute and I love the dress.

  • No reaction for us to 1 year shots (except the meltdown at the dr. office). It was pretty much like every other visit. We didn't have a lot of questions since we seem to be going the dr every other week for sick visits. Talked about starting milk, bottles, allergies, walking or lack thereof, etc. They also start weighing them with their clothes on at this stage so it made it hard for us to tell how much he actually gained since the last appt.
