Britax Chaperone

We have a 2010 Jetta TDI and a 2000 Saab 9-3 (2 door). We are looking at the Britax B-Ready with the Chaperone infant seat. With the promo right now, it's a great deal! I just want to know if anyone has experience with smaller cars and fitting the baby seat. Our other option we are thinking about is the City Mini with the Graco Snugride 35. The Britax deal ends up being cheaper. I am going to try and find a place that has the infant seat to try, but I thought I would ask here first! Thanks!

Re: Britax Chaperone

  • I would go to a store that sell one and try it in your car. I drive a VW Tiguan, which is a small SUV, and it fits pretty snug, and part of the base hangs off the seat.

I have a friend who fit hers in the back of her Passat, so it might fit, but it would be best to double check before purchasing.

Even though I bought mine on Amazon, I went to a store that carried the model and asked to try it out in my car.

  • I think I will have to do that.  We measured my husbands car and it doesn't look like it will even come close to fitting!  I think the Graco Snugride might be a better fit for his car.

It might depend on how tall you are.  I have a 4-door Honda Civic and the Chaperone would have fit behind my seat because I am short, but DH needs the seat all the way back and the Chaperone did not fit. We also have a ford Focus and the Chaperone did not fit well there either unless the passenger wanted to sit in the glove compartment.

We ended up getting a Chicco Ketfit and we can have both seats all the way back in both cars and it still fits with plenty of space.

  • Im still early in my 1st pregnancy but I just bought this combo from BRU since its such a great deal and i was afrais if i wanted any longer the color combo i wanted would be hard to get!!  DUe to popluarity they are ending the promo APRIL 30th instead of June.  I chose the sliver/black combo for both.  It is really nice, however the seat is big and heavier that most.  I drive a land rover discovery and my husband drives an Infiniti i35 mid size sedan.  It fits in both cars in the middle rear seat only. I think its is worth the space constraint for the safety aspect.  We don't have any other children to put in the car either, but it is tight because it kinda comes up in the front seat area a little. I have read rave reviews on both the stroller and car seat. I bought it from BRU then immediately found it the same day on Amazon for 100.00 cheaper with the same BOGO deal.  I was able to call BRU customer service and have them discount the amount because i told them i was going to send it back or cancel the order.  Hope this helps. BRU did have the seat and stroller in store.  Im sure they'd let u put it in the car, but use the base to measure cause it takes up a lot of space.  The base does extend past the seat in both of our cars but the instruction photos show it that way too so i guess its ok.  You can install the car seat with the base but the base makes it safer with the anti rebound bar.  Id be happy to measure it for you if the need arises. Good luck!
