Ideas for team green nurseries

I just saw the previous post of a team green nursery - looks awesome!

DH and I are starting to think about our nursery as our mothers are already starting to ask us about it every.time.we.talk. We're having a difficult time picking a theme.

Any ideas for gender neutral ideas that aren't necessarily green & yellow?

Re: Ideas for team green nurseries

  • we're having a boy but I got neutral bedding with the first pregnancy because I knew we would have 2 kids and I was going to save everything. That said, our nursery is neutral.

The walls are Practical Beige by Sherwin Williams and we have an animal theme. Animal sheets, animal pictures.

  • If I were doing a nursery for this LO, I'd do a lamb theme- I LOVE PBK's sweet lambie bedding and would do beige/ivory/chocolate brown.

And add in some more gender-specific color after LO is born.

We have a Peter Rabbit nursery.  It's really been a wonderful springboard for all things baby.

  • We are doing a bright green w/ white & brown w/ some small pops of orange, red & blue...mainly elephants & giraffes for a "theme" ...and some polka dots!  We are Team Green for this baby, our first, but also plan to use these items for our other baby (ies)! I am more into doing a "toddler" room than doing a separate nursery for each baby...
  • We were originally going to do a classic Winnie the Pooh theme, but we ended up broadening it out to a children's storybook theme. Now, we're incorporating things from lots of classic children's books. We know that we're having a boy, but we wanted to keep the larger things gender-neutral so we can reuse them and not have to worry about the next kid possibly being a girl.

  • we are doing a monkey theme nursery.  Maybe some animal/jungle theme

  • I'm doing very peaceful beach colors - mostly aqua & white, with gray, yellow and navy accents.  Aqua walls, thick white trim work, white furniture, hardwood floors, a light gray & white area rug, white curtains.  I'm not doing any animal or baby themes otherwise, just selecting fabric patterns and pictures I like that make me feel calm & peaceful.  I figure if I'm calm, baby will be calm!

When LO is older and I know that he/she likes bugs or ballerinas, then we'll "kid up" the room to their taste.  Until then, its my sanctuary too, and if I was faced with Disney overload already with a crying baby, I'd go nuts.

  • We are doing what I deem ice cream parlor colors- mostly green (Mythic Apple Annie- don't use comp guide as color- its an actual apple green, but looks olive online).  Other colors in the room are pale turquois, lavendar, yellow, an orangey-pink and a corally orange.  I am not a theme person, so we went with fabrics that we liked, various pieces of art, etc.
