XP: Those who CD 2+, a poop question...

Do you rinse right away or do you just do it once a day? The twins and my toddler are all in cloth and I feel like i'm rinsing poopy diapers all the time. It's a PITA because I have to whip out the rubber gloves, rinse, wring out, wipe down the toilet and wash the gloves and then my hands, etc. I started rinsing them just once a day but then it seemed a little gross having poopy diapers sitting on the bathroom floor waiting to be rinsed, especially since we only have one bathroom, plus it made the bathroom stink.

What do you do?

  • I just plop what plops and put them in the diaper pail.  I don't rinse or dunk or anything.  We aren't doing much solids yet so that may change in the future.  I haven't had any issues with staining or anything so far.  hth

  • What about flushable liners for your older son? It usually eliminates the need to dunk.

I would get those if he pooped at the same time everyday, but it's so random.

BTW, your DS is so stinking cute, he's going to be a heartbreaker when he's older!

Thank you so much! I need to update my siggy with a more recent picture.

Your boys are adorable too. You need to post a picture of all of your kids. I don't know how you do it!!

I use a flushable liner in the morning until DS poops and if we go out. We also have slop sink in the laundry room which makes rinsing diapers much easier.

I've been wanting to get a picture of them all but I haven't made the time...yet. I think we'll attempt a family or at least all kid picture on or around Easter.

  • We do a little of both, depending on the day.  I find that the poop comes off easier when it's still warm, though.

  • Maybe I'm a slacker, but when I've got poops, I just dunk it in the toilet and put the diaper in a plastic grocery bag and throw it down the laundry shoot where it hangs out until I do the diaper laundry (every other day). I find I don't get stains as long as the diaper is wet. I rarely need to clean the toilet afterwards, and since I'm puting it in a plastic grocery bad, I don't worry about wringing it out, and therefore can just hang on to a dry corner when I dunk it and not have to worry about gloves. Just tie the bag up, toss it, and wash my hands. I must admit that I think having a laundry shoot makes this process a lot easier. Maybe you can try a similar routine? I keep grocery bags in the bathroom, I just shove them into an empty kleenex box.
