one goes to sleep, one gets up, and the process repeats

my girls do not sleep at the same times at all!!! HELP!  okay so at night they sleep for about 6 hours at the same time.  So i can't complain there...but seriously one goes to sleep...one gets up...one goes to sleep...one gets up....IM exhausted.  When do they get on any kind of schedule at the same time?  or should I just get used to this?

  • No advice, just empathy. It seems like the baby was sleeping badly, then she started sleeping well but DS started teething and didnt sleep well for a couple of weeks, rinse and repeat. They cant both just sleep well at the same time!

  • I just wanted to say that this is my life, too. Everyone has been telling me to just get used to it...I just keep pounding the coffee!

  • This is us during the day.  DS naps from 10-12, DD from 1-3, and DS from 3-5.  So from 10-5, someone is either sleeping, getting ready to sleep or waking up from a nap.  The one-on-one time with each child is great, but I do miss "me" time during the day.

  • Mine were this way until DS went to one nap.  Enjoy the one on one time, DD really needed special big kid time with me.
  • Been there.  Neverending nap time used to start at 10am and finish at 3pm.

    Sorry.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • DS takes 3 naps, DD takes 1 nap. I make sure DS's second nap is at the same time as DD's only nap. Sometimes it means having DD stay up a little longer (like 20-30 minutes) until I know I'll be putting DS down soon.

    Here's my day:

7:30 am - DS wakes up, eats, naps again at 8:30 am

9 am - DD wakes up

11:30 am - DS wakes up, eats, naps again at 12:30 pm

12:15 pm - DD naps at around 1 pm

***This is my 2 hour break.***

3 pm - DD wakes from nap

3:30 pm - DS wakes from nap, eats, naps again at 4:30 pm

7:30 pm - DS wakes from nap, eats, bedtime at 8:30 pm

    8:30 pm - DD's bedtime

    ***End of day break.***

  • I feel like that was my life until DD was about 6 months and she consistently started napping a short nap in the am and a long nap in the pm.  And thankfully, I could get their pm naps to overlap for at least a short period of time.  Now, DD goes down at 12:30pm, DS at 1pm, and DD is up at 3, DS at 4.  I TRULY appreciate those 2 hours!
