They are both super cute but I think #1 will keep the sun off of his neck and they normally have a little chin strap to help them stay on.

I will add that, in my experience, # 1 is more adaptable as far as fit. The baseball caps I've gotten look funny if they're not sized exactly right.

I'm a sucker for a baby in a baseball cap, so I voted #2 but if your looking for a hat to wear outside a lot for sun protection purposes #1 might be a little more practical.
