Call your vet and ask if you can drop it off with them or if there is a wildlife center somewhere that takes in injured animals. Obviously you probably don't want to spend a ton of money on a wild bunny but maybe there is a vet or other place who takes in injured animals.

SAHD that's what DH told me to do. I am a wimp/evil, I couldn't do it. I am so upset that it is suffering though.
J+MS I'm taking a half day to take A to his 6 mo appt. I will probably try to find someplace to take it then, assuming some other animal hasn't gotten to it first. Oh hell...

Sadly/mercifully, baby bunnies go into shock pretty easily and it probably passed away shortly thereafter. I have had one die in my hands after rescuing it from a pool.
You probably know this, but outdoor cats can be rough on baby animals and birds. Perhaps keep kitty indoors or at least get a bell for its collar.
If I had time I would have just taken it to a shelter, bawling along the way. If I had to get to work I would have done the same as you & if its still there alive after work take it to the shelter. I don't know if your local animal control would do much for it but you could call them & see what they say? Theres not much you can do in these situations...don't feel bad or worry though, you did what you could in the time you had!! Hope monday gets better for ya!

I think it was already in shock. Poor thing. I really hope it didn't suffer too much.
She has a tag on her collar that makes tons of noise. I let her out early this morning as I was up with DS. I think that was my mistake. I'm keeping her in until the sun is up from now on. Especially right now, when the bunnies are all being born. A friend of mine told me that last year she was mowing her lawn, and she ran over a nest!

If I were your friend, I would still be crying. I hit a rabbit with my car 3 years ago and it still makes me upset.

Yea, don't stress over it. Just do what you can. That's the circle of life, my friend. LOL

This. I would be so depressed. In fact, I'm now depressed.
I voted that I would take it to the vet but if I was in a super hurry and had to be at work, I probably would have done just what you did.
I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry you had to see that and start your day that way. I know it's the circle of life, but it's still heartbreaking to see any living creature in pain. I hope your day gets a lot better!
I guess I'm in the minority here but I would have just left it alone.
In nature, this happens all the time. It was no one's pet and it is going to die. If it were a large animal like a fox or deer I would have called Animal Control to take the carcass but a bunny would be gone in a day from all the scavenger animals. I honestly wouldn't even think to take it to a vet for fear that they would laugh at me for trying to save a wild bunny. I had cats that would bring us "presents" all the time growing up. My dad would take a shovel to their heads and throw them in the woods. It's just how I was raised.
