OK so we are needing to purchase a new vacuum. We have only a small short hair dog so don't need a pet vacuum. We can't see paying for a dyson either. If you bought a refurbished one how much did you spend and did you have any issues?
So please name your vacuum and if you got a steal of a deal let me know where.
TIA!
Re: Need to buy a vacuum
We actually just bought one in October before moving. We couldn't afford a dyson and don't have pets either and one of our friends recommended it. It's the Hoover Nano and it's done awesome without any problems. I hate shopping at walmart but it's where we found it cheapest.

Let me start off by saying I hate bagless vacuums. I do have 2 cats (short hair) and allergies. I have a Hoover Windtunnel that I've had since we got married (8 years) and it's been great! (But I don't remember where we got it.) I bought a cheap Eureka Boss SmartVac (it was rated pretty high on Consumer Reports) for mom & dad's house and it does a great job on the dog's long hair and my brother's mess. I got it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
Pros and Cons to everything...
Windtunnel has a sensor that tells you if it is still picking up dirt. It does screw up sometimes and DH cleans it out (don't know how, but I do know it's not that involved at all!) and it works like a charm. It is self propelling, unlike the Eureka. I do get more of a workout when I use that one, but it's good for me (right?). They both have pretty good attachments. I can find replacement bags for both of them at Walmart (and Target too, I think.) They both work on carpet & floors, but the Windtunnel is a flip of a switch and the Eureka is the turn of a knob (easy) and a flip of a switch (HARD - but I knew that going in based on reviews I read.)
