Graco MyRide 65 Reviews?

DH and I are looking into buying the Graco MyRide 65 convertible carseat for our little one.  I plan to use it rear-facing in my 2010 Mazda3, and I wanted to hear some feedback from anyone who has used it, especially someone who's used it in a Mazda3 or a smaller sedan.

I've read a bunch of reviews and looked it up on Consumer Reports, but I'm curious to hear a few more reviews about it, especially in regards to my specific car/type of car.  I tried looking up the compatibility on www.carseatdata.org, but it has nothing for the MR65 in a Mazda3.  TIA, ladies :)

Re: Graco MyRide 65 Reviews?

  • I don't have it, but I believe the most recent Baby Bargains gave it a not so good rating...  I think Britax was high, as usual, and I can't remember the other one.  Sorry!

  • I have that seat.  I don't have a mazda, so I can't comment on that.  We bought it because of the consumer reports reviews.  We really like it.  I brought it with me on a trip--it got checked--and used it in the rental--which was maybe a Mazda 6.  It fit just fine in the middle.  It was easy to get in.  We are happy with it.

  • I had it for 2 weeks and returned it.  It was very difficult to tighten the straps when the seat was rear facing, if you read reviews that is a very common complaint.  Now, this was when it first came out, so almost 2 years ago.   My friend purchased the seat a few months ago, I warned her of my problem, but she thought maybe they fixed the issue.  She returned it the same day she bought it, same problem.

I bought a Britax instead.  When I took it to a car seat safety tech to have it installed, I told him about my Graco MyRide65 issue and he said I wasn't the first person he heard the complaint from.

  • Thanks for the responses :)  I'm not sure what we're going to do now though, as DH was telling me at dinner tonight that he actually now prefers the idea of the infant carseat (originally, he wanted to avoid having to buy two in such a short period of time, so the convertible seemed ideal).  So, I'm definitely still looking at all of the options, but I really appreciate reading what y'all had to say!  Thanks :)

  • We have 2 (one in each car) and LOVE them!  I will buy 2 more when LO#2 is ready for his/her convertible.

Anyway, we have a smallish car (Chevy HHR) and the seat fits RFing behind the passenger seat without any problem at all.

which strap?  The ones that hook to the latch in the car or the straps in the seat for the child?  I'm just curious because I haven't had difficulty with either.
