I know it's been asked before but...Congestion?

What can I use for DD 16 months for the rattling congestion in her chest? Baby Vicks? Regular Vicks? Can I put regular Vicks on and her just smell it? Poor baby needs to get some sleep without coughing. Thanks

DD just got over a cold.  We propped up the crib mattress, ran a humidifier, and I got a vicks vaporizor and ran it on low.  I did get some baby vicks but never used it.  The vaporizor seemed to really help.  I hope Audrey feels better soon!

Thanks. So you ran a humidifer and a vaporizer? We have a humidifer already. I am going to change the filter and see if that helps. I may have DH go out and get a vaporizer too though.

We do baby Vicks on the chest and feet covered with socks, wedge cushion to elevate the crib mattress, and run a humidifer.  I love Baby Vicks

The vaporizor just puts out the Vicks smell, there's little wick-like things you put in it and it heats them up.  I liked that I didn't have to put anything on her, especially since the vicks is in petroleum jelly.

Our routine: bath before bed with vaporub bubble bath, prop mattress slightly, baby vicks on chest and back, and pediacare vapors plug-in (this really helps!).  We also use saline and an aspirator to clean his nose out really well before bed.  Don't forget to go light on the milk and dairy products and offer lots of water to drink throughout the day.
