I got inspired by the ohdeedoh link in kaskade's crafty post from a few days ago and decided that Lila and I should make something for my mom for mother's day. (I know - it's a month away. But I figured if this went horribly awry then it would just count as a test run and we'd still have time to do it again... and again, if needed.)
I think it turned out great! DH thinks we should add a Lila handprint in the bottom left corner (in purple or black or some other distinguishable color). I'm not sure because, while Mimi (grandma) will love this I'm sure, I also want it to really "fit" when hanging in their home.

Honestly, it was really easy. Here's what I did:
1. Bought some scrapbooking alphabet stickers and a 14x18" canvas.
2. Cut out the letters (with backing on) and laid them out to get the right spacing
3. Made lines with ruler & pencil to get everything straight
4. Peel and stick (the particular ones I got weren't sticky enough on the canvas, unfortunately)
5. Painted over all the letters with white paint to "seal" the edges so the bright colors wouldn't bleed. This also helped keep the letters stuck on the canvas, since they weren't sticking perfectly.
6. Let dry over night
7. Used Crayola washable paints and let Lila loose one color at a time.
8. Let it dry completely
9. Peel up stickers, and VOILA!!

NICE! That's super cute!
Do they make latex gloves for kids? That way he could smear his hands all around in it, but then just throw the mess away when he's done.
