Not sure if we have anyone hanging out around the board who could give me input on this, but just in case...
I bought Connor a shortall (I hate that term!) from Gymboree to wear for Easter. He will be 2 months old then. After much waffling I bought the 0-3 months size. However, the upper weight limit on the tag is 12.5lbs. He weighs more than that NOW. I looked at 3-6month outfits too and they seemed huge - especially the length. I know Jocelyn had trouble fitting in the right size for her age because she was big too, but I don't know how much of a difference it will make with the shortall since it seems more forgiving. Anyone have experience with Gymboree boy stuff? Just wondering if I should go exchange it for 3-6 months; I don't want to wait until the last minute for fear of everything being picked over...
Re: Gymboree sizing
hmmm...i don't know if i'll be much help since i've got a girl and didn't even know they had short/tall! but in my gymboree experience....whatever size audrey is wearing at the moment - she can generally wear a size behind in gymboree b/c it runs big. and her size has always been double her age. like she's in 4t right now, except for gymboree 3t. i know it wouldn't be budget friendly but could you buy the clothes in both sizes and return the ones he doesn't wear?!
I don't have a boy but I do have a lot of gymboree
I tend to find that they're sizing is either on the larger end or true to size. I don't think I would go by the weight for a shortall (unless you have a really round baby...like 90th%ile weight and really short), I would go by height.
I think you would be fine keeping the 0-3 months outfit, but don't dry it in the dryer...just in case.
Could you try the outfit on him now to see how the length/fit is? I mean, he's not going to grow enough between now and Easter to make much of a difference I wouldn't think.
Good thought on figuring this out now. I was just at Gymboree for the 2nd time this week and couldn't believe how picked over things were with the gymbuck redeption just starting a couple days ago.
LOL! Clearly written by the mom of a girl! I've learned, now that I have a son, that "shortall" is the term for overalls that are shorts instead of long pants
Gymboree does not, in fact, have "short/tall"
Thanks for the input guys. Connor is >95th% for weight, not sure on length. But, I think the style will be forgiving enough for him. Still, I'm considering taking the opportunity to go ahead and buy something in 3-6 too; seems like a valid excuse to me!
