probiotics

I know we've discussed this before, but I can't find a thread for it....

If you give you LO probiotics, what kind/brand do you use?  Where do you buy it?

We're looking to start Henry on some probiotics at his pediatricians recommendation.  I was planning on stopping at Whole Foods/Walgreen's (they are next door to each other) on the way home today. but I wanted to see what others have used and like, too.

TIA!

Re: probiotics

  • We have always used Udo's Choicec Infant's Probiotics and I've gotten it from Whole Foods before. It's about $20 or so for 2.64 ozs

  • We just do yogurt for Libby but have looked into Udo's as well (based on reccs here)...I was going to order it from Amazon, but read that it should be refrigerated or the cultures die, so I am trying to find it locally.
  • We use Culturelle. They are caplets that you open and mix the powder with cold milk. Has to be cold milk, not warmed. I don't know if that is the brand the doctor recommended or just what DH picked up. Our doctor suggested them when she was getting sick over the winter. I think they have definitely helped!

  • We used to use Udo's Choice as well, based on Robbi's rec (but stopped b/c it has trace amounts of dairy, which may explain why I didn't notice an improvement!) Too bad you don't live nearby or I'd give you what we have left. Like Lori said, it should be refrigerated. We got it at Super Supplements, not sure if they're available where you are. Our whole foods doesn't have it.

  • I'm coming in late, but just in case you are still trying to decide

We've used Lactinex & we are now trying Culturelle for Kids.  Both were hard to find around me.  I finally found Lactinex at Target (behind Pharmist's counter) and Culturelle was at CVS.  I couldn't find anything at RiteAid or Walgreens.  I didn't even think to look at Whole Foods.  I will check them out next b/c I was interested in the Udo's but like Lori said I didn't want to order them from Amazon b/c of no refrigeration.  My doctor also recommended Bio Gaia.  They come in drops as well as a powder.
