Baby Names

Ophelia, DH's comment

On our way home from touring labor and delivery last night we started talking about names just for fun. ( I think we have officially decided on Elin) Anyways, I told  DH I like a couple of names, but could never use them due to our last name. It is a kind of cutesy last name and simple straight forward names work best. I told him if I was single and planned on using my Italian maiden name, Gengo ( Jen-go) I would name my daughter something like

Georgiana

Livia

Lucretia

or Ophelia. When I mentioned Ophelia he started laughing saying no one should ever name their daughter " oh I feel ya." Funny what you never pick up. Thought I'd share for a laugh.

  • I think that's a pretty common initial though for a lot of people (men in particular it seems)

I love Elin. So simple and pretty.

Thank you! I finally got DH on board with it :)

    "oh I feel ya."

Sadly, I've thought of this, too. That's why it has never been on my list... only in my imaginary list. hehe :)

I think men are especially good at taking the rose-tinted glasses off when it comes to naming. :)

  • Im not a fan of Ophelia either, but Elin is so short and sweet. I love it! Good choice. Different but not strange

  • That's the one reason I really can't like the name that much.  I can't help but think that every time I see it.  Same reasoning goes for why I wouldn't use the nn Anya for Anastasia even though I kind of like it.

  • Ophelia is probably our top contender for hypothetical DD #2. DH and I both love it. I mentioned it to my mom and she said the same thing as your DH. We hadn't even though of that, but ehhh.. oh well. Elin is a very pretty name though. Nice choice.
