Help with DD's 1st gift....
My DD turns 1 in a few weeks and I've been thinking about birthday gifts. I want to get her something that can start as a ritual for her birthday. hmm....how to explain this. What came to mind was either a charm bracelet (where I get her a charm each year that represents something special about the year) or I have thought about a ring each year. I have my baby ring and it is so adorable how small it is. For rings I was thinking of getting her one each year that would fit her finger (obviously she wouldn't get to use it) and then in 10 or so years, put them all on a necklas and see how she has grown.
But...I am wondering if you have any other ideas along this same train of thought. Something I can get her each birthday that is the same item but could be "customized" to represent her past year.

What I did with my first DD was give her a book each year. I bought a really beautiful Alice in Wonderland pop-up that we only read a couple times a year. Each year I got her another book by the same author - Matthew Reinhart. His books are amazing and now she has a really nice collection to keep and eventually share with her kids.
