? for those w/experience with strep

DD has had strep a lot but we usually don't know until the fever hits. Well after this last round of strep (2x) her tonsils never went down is size. We've already scheduled the tonsillectomy for June when school is out. Yesterday and today she has complained that her throat hurts and her tonsils are extra swollen. They're basically touching her uvula.

So can she have strep without the fever or any other symptom really? Should I take her in?

Jakob and I have had strept more than a few times but not enough to get our tonsils out.  Neither of us have ever had strept without a fever.  Maybe its not the infection but just general irritation?  Post-nasal drip?

DD had strep and never got a striking fever.  She was 2 years old at the time and her main symptom was vomiting.  The only reason I realized what was going on was I was diagnosed with strep and took her in to be tested.  Not only did DD end up with strep but it progressed to scarlett fever as well.

I have also had strep on many occassions.  There have been time when I will have a round that presents with only a mild transient fever.  It is weird.  Anyway, I personally would take her in given her history.  I don't mess around with strep.

I don't have tonsils. I had strep twice this year and the second time my only symptom was the sore throat. I'd take her in - sounds like something is going on.

Yes, she can. I did as a kid.  I remember my mom having the doctor check for strep and the doc said "ok but she doesn't have it" and I actually had a massive strep infection.  Poor girl!  Hope she can feel ok until her tonsils are out.

Thanks guys. I have call into her doctor but he'll probably have her come in. I rather have the meds in her this weekend so she doesn't have to miss school again for strep.
