Has anyone ever tried one?? I have a treadmill and a portable stepper... my house is really small, and with 2 babies and a husband who works 70 plus hours a week, getting to a gym isn't an option for me... so I like building up a home gym as much as possible.... I know it's better to switch up my activity rather than just get on the treadmill everyday and I love the elliptical as a 2nd option, but didn't know if anyone has ever used one of the portable ones.... waste of money... or good buy?? A full size one is definitely not an option....
Re: portable elliptical trainer...
Is your treadmill a fold-away model? If so, how do you find it? If you find it ok, the portable elliptical might be ok for you.
However, I would not recommend a portable elliptical. They can be so wobbly (not enough to fall over, but enough to get a lot of lateral movement) as it is a much more dynamic movement. It all depends on how hard you work out. If you plan on really sweating it out on the elliptical, you'll definitely want a sturdier one.
The gym at my school had an older, less heavyduty one when I started teaching there. It got damaged very quickly and I actually ordered a model that was a crossover between a home elliptical and an industrial one. Definitely not as big as what you would find at the local gym, but definitely sturdier than the home models.
