I keep meaning to post this. While trying to build DS's library I ran across this list online and thought it to be helpful as to some good books to make sure your LO has (or has had read to them). I have the list printed out and use it as a reference when I take DS to the library!

That's a really good list! I'll have to save it and use it as a reference when I can start book-shopping for LO. (DH is making me wait until after our showers ). I'm super excited to start building his library!!

As a Kindergarten teacher I love this list. We read most of the books at some point during the school year. DH was saying the other night that we should read to the baby and I reminded him he gets story time everyday with me! In addition to music, math, art...

That's a really good list. Thanks for posting! However, I'm a little surprised to see Shel Silverstien on there. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a creative genius, but his poems seems a little dark for pre-schoolers, and I think some of the sketches might be a little "scary" for sensitive children. I remember covering some of the pictures up when I read them, and I was in elementary school by then. Or maybe I was just a big chicken, lol.

awesome!  i'm a reading specialist at an elementary school and i love to see parents get excited about reading to their kids.  i love seeing little kids turning the pages, try to tell some of the story, reciting the words b/c they know the story so well, etc.
