Quad screen results with twins

So here it goes. I got some fabulous results on my quad screen (adjusted for twin pregnancies). Screen negative was my result. I work at the hospital so I was able to look up my lab results- NT defect-1:4650 DS-1:21400. I am 34 so my age alone based risk was 1:342. So I know I should just be happy and move on but all I can think about now is if the screening looks so good are both babies okay. I looked at the detailed results and wonder shouldnt my levels be higher since they are twins? Afp 46./ MoM 1.56; uE3 1.42/MoM 1.53; hCG 19.4/MoM 0.94; DIA 142/MoM 0.99. Any thoughts?? I had my first US at 12 weeks, none since. They both looked great, even heart rate etc. . .but I just worry because I haven't heard/seen them since. I have a fear that maybe one isnt still there. I have an US monday so looking forward to that. These babies seriously need to start doing some big moving to calm me somehow. Thanks, just needed to say this "out loud" I know I'm crazy icon_wink.gif

  • I can't contribute at all since I have no idea what those numbers mean....but take a deep breath and enjoy your weekend.  You have a u/s on Monday -yey!

  • I know nothing about those numbers as well since they did not do a Quad screen on me as they said it's not accurate with multiples... However I know your fear, my last US was at 12 weeks 4 days, and I dont go again until the 20 weeks... I was so afraid that something happened to one baby and I never knew... Luckily when I switched Doctors the new Doctor was able to find both heartbeats for me a week ago so that was definitely reassuring.

I just wanted to commiserate with you.  I got my results back this week and the nurse just tried to say they are all normal but I insisted she give me the ratios and my DS risk was 1 in 1,300 which is great...but I used a 22 year old donor egg and the ratio for a 20 year old is 1 and 1,400.  I needed a friend to talk me off the ledge for about an hour.  Its the thing I don't like about the NT scan - it's just a screen not a diagnostic test.  If you really feel like you have to know then you need to do an amnio.

  • My clinic never even did a quad screen with me, which I'm still upset about.  I even got a second opinion at another clinic and they also don't do them with twins.  They say it's just not accurate.  I'm so peeved, because I come online and I see that many twin moms have had them done.  I'm not happy about it.  My NT measurements were fine, and based on my age of 26 I know the risks are lower, but still it makes me nervous.  I think you're lucky that you at least had them take your blood, imagine if they didn't at all.
