Parenting after 35

Having a rough day...

I haven't been able to post or respond as much as I wanted this week, so hugs to everyone!  We've been starting to get things in our house ready so we can list and sell our house while our new one is being built, dealing with medical appointments and just kid stuff in general (it's BSC here). So yay to all of that.

I had a "story" for my rough day, but it was getting way too long. How about this: Would you find 9pm too late for a sport for kids aged 4 through 13? I'm trying to formulate a response that doesn't include profanity. Flarg. Frack. Stoopid people.

And it's snowing here. Again. It's April, wth?? I should have been able to power rake my lawn, wear capris and have an umbrella drink outside by now, even here!

Gah, I'm going to go beat my head against some drywall now and fold laundry cause Timmie's is too far to drive and I have no chocolate.

Thanks for listening to the crazy lady!

  • It just now occurred to my dense brain that your screen name is a homage to the AWESOME Tim Hortons!!!   In my world, there is never an instance when it's too far to get to a Timmie's (unless you live in Colorado and the nearest one is in Ohio!)

That being said... I wore flip flops and capris on Saturday when it was 84 degrees.  The wind blew to 84 mile per hour winds later that night.  Then it was 34 on Sunday afternoon and snowing like crazy.  So early/mid April is still winter in my book.

As for the 9pm sports start... it's ridiculous for a 4 year old.  But for 13 year olds.. eh.. they can probably deal with it as long as they've already done their homework.  Altho I do give it the side-eye if that's on a school night.  My niece, who is nearly 15, often doesn't get home from volleyball practice until 10pm.  But she has to have her homework all finished or she can't go.

  • LOL, it is for Tim Horton's! It's 20 minutes from here not including the line up time (which can get ridiculously long). Not enough time to get there, I have to get the kids from school in 15 minutes. Coffee It's okay, I plan on going in the morning. Andplusalso, our new house is a 2 minute walk from one. Woohoo!

I'm nuts, I'd still wear capris and sandals in cool weather....it's the slushy snow that kills it. It's only 34 today, and it has yet to get above 50. Which for here is well below the season average. And I would wear my capris at 45 and above, but I need to dewinterize my legs Embarrassed.

Yeah, I would be okay with the times for an older kid, not at all for a younger kid. It's for our swim team, so they all practice at the same time, and our pool thinks this is an acceptable time to offer us.

ack, S is up and not happy, ttyl ladies.

Ah donuts.  There are NO donut shops in my city.  None!  There used to be a Dunkin Donuts but it went out of business!  Where I come from in New England there is a DD on every corner.

9pm is too late. When you consider the kids still need to get home, shower and change for bed they could be up as late as 10:30.  I have no idea how kids fit homework and after school activities in but at some point they need to sleep.

  • mmmm, Dunkin Donuts...yeah, there's nothing here except for Subway. It's probably good for my waistline, but man, I need me a honey crueller and a xl double double. I feel for you M. Amy, no donuts!! Crying

Yeah, our facility has never been accomodating, so when they told us in the fall that we had our booking back, I should have known it was to good to be true! i just wish she could have been more professional and let us know this from the beginning, we could have booked the next town over, even if it meant 30 min each way for our parents. And they have a Tim's!
