It went well! LO is 27 inches and 15 1/2 lbs - he is low for weight but the doc wasen't concerned - he said it is normal due to increased activity..He said he is still "perfect"
Ok, now the question part - LO has been eating fruits, veggies and cereal - the doc said we could start him on meat now. I don't eat meat and am not very familiar with cooking it. Should I start with chicken? Do I bake it? Has anyone started LO on meat?
TIA
Re: 6 month doc appt and a question
I have only done beef for my daughter so far, but all I did was cook it throughly in a pan. Afterwards I added cooked carrots and some water and pureed it. Often times babies don't react well to the consistency of meat, so it is best to add a fruit or veggie to give it a more creamy texture and familiar taste.
Check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com it is a great resource.
That is a good question - there are so many different opinions on feeding it makes my head spin..
I am doing jarred meats to start. J really likes the Apples & Chicken from Gerber.
If I was going to do my own chicken I would probably boil it and then shred it (pull the cooked meet appart, it will seperate into strings) and then toss it with one of his favorite purees as a "sauce".
Yes - my pedi did not mention starting meat at all at the 6 mos appt. I figured I might start once I get through some more veggies and fruits.
Ours didn't mention meat at the appointment and I didn't even think to ask. We're still working on new veggies and fruit so I hadn't checked out the meats.
