Hello everyone. I have posted a couple of times this week but didn't introduce myself so I just wanted to do that now.
My husband and I got married in July of '09, and in January of 2010 he had a vasectomy reversal so we could start our family. I think he's the most wonderful man in the world for many reasons, not the least of which was because of this
It's the 2nd marriage for both of us (he has an 18 and a 16-year old daughter from his 1st marriage). He's 46 and I will be 39 in May. We have been trying to get pregnant since March of 2010, and always an optimist, I never imagined that it wouldn't happen within a couple of months. I have never tried to become pregnant before, but just figured I was really good at birth control for all of those years.
We finally went to a see a specialist in early February and after testing it seems that there are no obvious issues, so we did a cycle of Follistim, Ovidrel and intercourse (our choice to do it that way) and that was a BFN, our next cycle we did Follistim and Ovidrel and IUI, and I am halfway through the 2WW.
If this isn't successful, we plan to do another cycle with IUI and then move on to IVF starting in May. I'm not trying to be pessimistic by planning this far ahead, but I need to know what lies ahead in the next few months since it seems life revolves around this! After that timing, I run into various annoying time constraints that have to do with my job, and so I just hope that we have a positive results before that becomes a factor.
Anyway, that is my story. Looking forward to hearing about all of your successes!
Re: Introduction
Welcome
I am slightly older at 41, but have an older DS hat turned 18 this year. We also marrried in 2009 and thought this journey would be quick and easy (now think that I had no idea what I was getting into!!) GL and I hope that your stay is short!!
Welcome. I won't hold it against you that you work a NY football team (I'm assumig based on location - hopefully it is not the one in NJ!) Go Eagles!!
I always plan ahead as if a cycle is not going to work out - so I get where you are coming from.
I don't know who you are using as an RE, but my sister when through 6 years (off and on) of fertility treatment and was very hapy with, and finally successful with IVF NJ.
Best of luck! Hopefully this is your month!
Welcome from another Irish!
We are on similiar treatment paths. I am in a follistim IUI cycle right now. The actual IUI will likely be later this weekend. I am also planning ahead for IVF in June (I'm going to Vegas in May for a wedding otherwise I would start then too). I also never imagined that it wouldn't happen within a couple of months! My plan was to get pregnant last summer and have a June 2011 baby. Yup, I should be 7 months PG now instead of planning for IVF. I was naive and/or unlucky.
I'm 37/DH is 43. Neither of us have any kids.

Thanks for the replies ladies.
Funny Mrs McIrish, I am planning to be in Vegas in May as well for a week. but the timing should work out so that I don't need to be in for monitoring until after I get back. I spent a while on the phone with my nurse yesterday plotting out what will work and won't work (I replied to one of your posts with a bit of a rant about timing over the next few months.)
If I get a BFN next week, I had originally planned to skip the IUI cycle in April due to work demands, but after discussing with my DH we both would like to give the IUI one more cycle before doing the IVF. I work about 5 minutes away from my doctor's office and my boss will just have to live without me for an hour in the morning the day of insemination if it falls on a weekday.
Of course, fingers are crossed that this isn't an issue!
And good guess on it being an NY football team that I work for, both NY teams are based in NJ...I have allegiances to both NY teams so I can't say that I share your enthusiasm for the Eagles
