For about the last two weeks I have been having pain in my hands and my hands fall asleep ALL the time. It is uncomfortable during the day but it really hurts at night when I am trying to sleep. Now I have a hard time making a fist and putting my hands flat.
My doc said it is from swelling in my hands and that the fluid is squeezing my nerves and making it hurt. My husband keeps joking saying what if it does not go away after you have the baby? I said then I will be having some surgery because
I can not deal with this.
Anyone else have these symptoms?
Re: Pain in hands...anyone else?
Mine just started last week. It is my understanding that it is pretty common and can last up to about 2 weeks post partum.
I have found that putting ice around my wrist/hand area helps quite a bit when my fingers go numb. Also, I am sleeping with wrist splints on (though I already owned them due to having RSI previously in both wrists).
Carpel Tunnel Syndrome is very common during pregnancy. One of my cousins is an OT and she's been waiting for a call from me to schedule a therapy appointment (assuming that with twins it might be bad), but thankfully I haven't had any hand or wrist pain.
If it was affecting my sleep, I definitely ask my doc for an OT referral.
I've had this for about a month now, it's basically pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel and yea it's a huge pain. The fingers of my left hand are asleep as I type right now.
And it is the worst when I wake up in the morning because it's asleep AND painful.
It'll go away after the baby, don't worry.
This. My right hand is twice the size of my left. Doc is not worried and said it should go away when i lose all my pregnancy swelling.
