What do you think of the name Eliana?

My friend just had a baby girl yesterday and named her Eliana Marie.  They plan to call her "Ellie".

Personally, I think it's awful.  My first thought was, Elian Gonzalez floating over to FLA on a raft from Cuba.

What's weird is their first LO is Maxwell Thomas (Max), which I love. 

Just doesn't make sense as a sibset to me.

    I do like the name, but I LOVE Elena or Alanna more.

    I think its pretty & very traditional. I've seen it rise in popularity here (I'm also in MI) - my SIL considered it for her last. Elian Gonzalez never came to mind.

     

    Eliana & Maxwell aren't a great sibset but they're not totally mismatched either.

    It's alright. I love Iliana, however. I'm not big on the nn Ellie, just because of all the Ella and Ell- names that are super popular right now. I also like Elena and Alana.

    I like Eliana.  I think it's a pretty name.  As a sibset with Maxwell it does seem a little odd though.

    I love Elena MUCH more, it was on my top names list. Phonetically, Eliana could be annoying for you and her.
