Dr Zapata did H's tubes on Friday. I really really loved her. She has a great bedside manner that put both H and I at ease. Front desk staff were "Eh", but her nurse is awesome too. We saw somebody else last year and it was a totally different experience. Can't remember who, but they were off AW Grimes. Dr Z was worth the 3 week wait.
We're seeing Dr. Kahn next week. We saw Dr. Zapata last week and while she was very nice, she immediately started talking tubes. Our pedi wants us to get a second opinion. She was also concerned that Dr. Zapata didn't want us to schedule a follow-up visit even though she diagnosed DD with an ear infection and wrote us a prescription for antibiotics.

I suppose I don't see why a kid would need a Pedi ENT if all they're going to do is write for MORE antibiotics. The Pediatrician should be able to do that. You're looking for a long term cure to the ear infection problem right? Tubes are the cure. What else would an ENT bring to the table?

The pedi wanted us to see her to discuss our options and see if DD's hearing had been affected. Dr. Zapata said that if she checked her hearing that day, it would definitely be affected because she had an infection. The pedi didn't understand why she sent us on our way with a prescription and didn't want to see us for a follow-up appointment. She just told us to call her office if we wanted to schedule the surgery. I'm not saying she was wrong, I'm just passing on the info from my pedi, whom we trust to help us make informed decisions for our daughter.
