Parenting after 35

Vain and totally NTR

One of DH's oldest friends and his GF are coming to visit in a few weeks. We haven't seen them since before we conceived M. So now I'm fatter, greyer and less diligent with my maintenance - ie. mani/pedis, facials, tweezing, dyeing my hair.

So I have now resolved to exercise and take better care of myself in an effort to look like a pretty girl instead of a chunky, nearly middle-aged SAHM.

  • I hear you.  Every morning when I'm getting ready for work I get depressed at how many work clothes I have that still don't fit.  I've lost my baby weight but my waist is much, much wider than it used to be, definitely more grey hair and I just feel frumpy sometimes!  Sounds like its past time for both of us to get mani/pedi's, get those eyebrows waxed and go get a new outfit!

  • I'm right with you!  I am meeting old coworkers next week for dinner, some I haven't seen in over a year or two.  (I was laid off in March 09) I am wondering how much I can "change" in a week. Hmm, I am thinking just getting the eyebrows waxed would be a vast improvement for me.  LOL!

  • I am going to a Bar Mitzvah this coming weekend & somehow have to find a way to hide my tummy to fit in a pre-pregnancy dress. So far I speed walked along with sprinting with the jogger stroller twice this week. I plan to continue the rest of the week, but I know one week won't do anything. So I went shopping & bought Shapers (I guess it's like a knock off of Spanx). They do the trick BUT bikini season will be here soon & I need to seriously stick with exercising. I used to work out 6 days a week before I got married, then it went down to 3 days after, now it's zilch. I get so down on myself. I am a perfect weight, it's only the belly I have a problem with.

The hair & nails are another sore topic but I'll take those over the belly any day.

I so hear you!! Why do you think I am working so hard to lose weight? I am seeing my family for the first time since I was pregnant.

  • I hear you! I am making an appontment to get my hair cut and colored before my birthday (I hope). I feel sloppy and unkept. I need a pedicure and some cute shoes too. And why stop there... I also need bras, cute tops, some capri pants (is it bad that that's all I want to wear this summer?) I need someone to turn me into one of those shows where they ambush you and give you a makeover. Ha!

  • So glad I'm not alone. I have never been an overly put together girly girl, but I used to at least make bit of an effort to not be the kind of spectacular mess I seem to be lately.
  • I can relate, too. Hair is the only thing I am keeping up with relatively well. Everything else is a mess. The last time I had mani/pedi done was the day before my wedding in the summer of '09. I do tweeze my own eybrows though.
