I am full of questions today...sorry. I have to have a c-section this pregnancy and every other pregnancy after. How long do you have to wait after a c-section to attempt to get pregnant again?
I thought my doctor said 18 months today. Now I don't know if she meant 18 months between the c-section and pregancy, or that you have to wait 18 months between c-sections (and could get pregnant sooner). I'm 33, which is why I'm getting concerned...
Re: Time Between C-Section and Pregnancy
I don't have experience with this, but my friend does. She had to have an emergency c-section with her first. She was pregnant again in less than a year. She also had a c-section with her second. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but the c-sections themselves could not have been more than 18 months apart--max.
Hope this helps.
My doctor actually didn't tell me how long to wait between pregnancies. I had an emergency c-section and will attempt VBAC this time. I got my suprise BFP the month after DS's first b-day. And the OBGYN I'm seeing didn't seem too concerned.
So I'm assuming that a year between pregnancies it ok.
the common guideline says to wait a year after the birth of your last baby if by cs before you even start trying again.
giving at least a year gives plenty of time to heal. although some have obviously gotten pregnant sooner.
if you have a dangerous situation where getting pregnant before a year could be harmful to you, i'm sure your doc would be very clear about that...
