pumping frustrations...help please!

My LO is 2 months old and is EBF.  Since she was about 4 weeks I've been pumping 1-2 x a day so we can give her a bottle at night.  Sometimes I have really great pumping sessions, 2-4 oz.  But, sometimes I get less than 1/2 an oz.  I try to pump between 8-10 am as my main pumping session because that's when I get the most milk.  My DD eats every 3-4 hours.  I'm frustrated because of the inconsistency of my milk supply and I would like to start building a freezer stash.  How in the world do I feed my baby, pump for a daily bottle, pump for a stash and get things accomplished during the day?  I feel like a human fountain!  Suggestions?  Thoughts?  Help!

Re: pumping frustrations...help please!

  • Pump at the times you'd normally breastfeed. Like, I pump at 9:30 when she'd normally nurse, and give her one bottle and save the other for another feeding. When we use that bottle for the next nightfeed, I pump after she gets the bottle and save one bottle for the next feeding, and the other for my freezer stash. Because my body would normally nurse then, my body has milk ready.

  • Are you pumping when she gets a bottle? How long do your nursing sessions last? If she takes 10 minutes to eat, pump after she's done. We give 1 bottle at night and it's usually when I'm super full so I get a lot at that time and after the morning pump.
