Austin Babies

possible "toddler" (eek!) question

So I have been absent for a few weeks - SXSW kept me super busy and I am finally caught up with work stuff (so to speak) from it.

I can't believe that next week M is going to be one year old! That puts us in the toddler camp, doesn't it? CRAZY.

Anyway, my question is this - M has recently started arching her back and throwing her head back when she gets frustrated/is unhappy about something - or possibly getting tired. She just started this in the last two days. Is this a precursor to the toddler tantrums? So not looking forward to that stage... Blah.

Re: possible "toddler" (eek!) question

  • More then likely. My brother used to do that. My 2 year old just kind of throws himself down and whines ALL THE TIME! My best advice is to just ignore her. If she learns that that kind of behavior gets her no attention maybe she'll stop. As long as she isn't hurting herself. Good luck! But IMO this is when all the fun starts. Our DS is free entertainment for us.

This, though I will say DD's behavior greatly improved when she figured out how to more effectively communicate with us (verbally and signing). We still have tantrums, but they haven't been that bad yet (or I could just be used to them now).

Having a toddler is challenging, but very fun!
