Wheat Grass

Have you tried it? What are your thoughts? In what form did you use it?  I started wheat grass shots this a.m. I got the juice frozen into individual shots so you thaw jsut two at a time. It is NASTY but I put it in my smoothie and couldn't taste it.  Does anyone else know antyhing about it (ie is powder better than liquid, can you grow it yourself, etc.)

History of IF and 2.5 years TTC. The day we were to start our first IUI we received a call that changed our lives forever and 10 month old Olivia joined our family. Shortly thereafter we got a surprise BFP and baby 2 is due July 5, 2012

Re: Wheat Grass

  • I took it with orange juice.

Warning - it can greatly stall your response to stims. It did for me, and when I "polled" others, it was true for others as well.  I'm in the "don't do it" camp with WG, sorry. It does seem to do well for AMA's with DOR, but I just couldn't find enough MEDICAL info to support it's use.

  • I'm AMA with DOR. It worked great for me. My FSH was lingering between 18 - 25 and I was barely responding to stims. I started drinking about 5 oz of fresh a day and within 2-3 weeks my FSH was at 5 something and never went above 7 again. I still didn't get a lot of follies but I responded much better on the WG and it finally worked. I think fresh is best but if it's not available frozen or powder would be better then nothing IMO.

  • I only did it a couple of times.  If I had to do it again, I would have taken it more consistently.  I am AMA and DOR.

I would get fresh shots are Jamba Juice.  They literally grind it in front of you.  It wasn't as terrible as I thought.  I did the shot straight up.  They serve it with an orange slice chaser!

  • I've used the frozen shots, sounds like what you're taking. The brand is Evergreen. It was the nearest I could find to fresh WG without going to a proper juice bar. The amount is small so I just gulped it down in 1 shot.

As for whether it had any effect, I'm really not sure...

  • I have tried them.  I have done fresh shots and the frozen ones from Fresh Market.  I am AMA and DOR and never responded well to stims.  Unfortunately, I did not really see a change, but I also did not take it consistently, which is what I hear you should do for it to have a positive effect.

It is also my understanding that fresh WG is better than the pill or powder.  I usually took it as a straight shot with no chaser.  The taste wasn't bad, and heaven knows I have had worse!

  • I have no idea if it did anything, good or bad, but I took 5 giant tablets in the morning and another 5 in the evenings from a couple of weeks before stims until trigger. I couldn't stand the liquid or frozen form, but the tablets were A-OK.

Natural BFP (WTF?!) - 06/04/11 ~ lots of complication and drama, but sweet baby Adele born 02/07/12!

BFP #million -another girl for us! EDD - 05-08-15 (but will come early)

  • I took the frozen cubes and I actually liked them Embarrassed Hated the powder though, made me throw up. As for results, well, I don't think it made a big difference. My problem was egg quality, not quantity though.  We still had most of our eggs die down though at the same ration as the failed cycle. I did feel much healthier though, I will say that. Better than I felt in years.
