Town N' Country Stow N Go with three kids under 2...advice needed!

We have the Town N Country Stow N Go and I need some carseat advice.  Up until now, we have one seat stowed (unless we have an extra passenger in which we pull it up for the passenger) and the other middle seat is for my toddler.  We have the infant seats in the back.  It is nice because with the seat stowed, I can go into the car to put their carrying cases into the carseat.  We are looking at moving them into convertible carseats.  Since they have to be rearfacing, I can't figure out how to place everyone.  If we keep both twins in the back seat, there is no room in between them for someone to sit, so we would have to buckle them from the trunk.  It sounds crazy to go into the trunk to buckle the kids.  We went to Babies R' Us, and they helped us put two of their narrowest carseats (Safety 1st Complete Air) in the back seat, and it was still impossible for a person to fit in between.  (Side point - they were super nice and super helpful!)  Any advice for how to place the three convertible carseats into the car and not make me crazy would be greatly appreciated!  FYI, the only other thing I could think of was moving DS#1 to the back and reinstalling the carseat everytime he needs to get in and out, aka stowing and pulling up the middle seat each time we get in and out of the car.  This seems just as silly as going into the trunk to strap in the kids.  One more important point, DS#1 is not old enough to climb into his seat by himself, so I would have to be able to reach him to help him get in.

Thanks for reading all this and any advice would be super helpful!

Im not sure I understand why you cant fit back there long enough just to buckle up the babies.  Maybe Im missing something.

Would it help to have your ds#1 seat and one of the twins in the 3rd row and then the other twin in the second row?

I had the same thing going on and L was also rear facing as well.  I had the girls in the back row rf and L in the 2nd row rf.  He is only 1yr, 11days  older than the girls.  I had a tiny van too.  It wasnt a full length van.  (sport van?)

I would try with your older son and one twin in the back and see if that allows you room to reach around to buckle the rf seat.

    Good Luck

What kind of carseats do you use?

  • What about sunshine radians? No experience but they look really narrow, and I think the low profile would help with reaching for the buckles.
  • All four of mine are RF'ing in a minivan and the easiest way to get them in the 3rd row is through the trunk.  It really isn't a big deal, I removed the head rests on that seat and just lift them over.  As for fitting in the middle I am no small girl and I have riden between the 2 seats in the rear for 2+ hours at a time so it is doable to get back there and buckle them in that way too.

I had L in a Safety First All in One like this

     https://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1st-All-in-One-Convertible-Car-Seat/5515916

It was a rather large car seat.  The girls were in their infant carriers in the 3rd row.

I would change it up some by having L and one of the girls in the back and then the other girl in the 2nd row.  The girls were in their infant carriers until around 10months.  They were still so tiny at that point.  (4lbs 8oz each at birth)

By the time the girls went to convertible car seats I felt comfortable turning L FF.  He was just shy of 2.  (about 2 months)  Then it was easier to buckle the girls because I put one in the 3rd row with L FF.

I am a rather petite person so that may be another reason I didnt have any problems.
