Pain.. Am I the only one?

I'm having pain on the left side by my ribs, and shoulder blade? It's been happening for 24 hours now. I've tried tylenol and it doesnt even change. i'm not for sure if I have a rib out of place or if the baby is sitting on a nerve and causing me some pain. I dont think its the baby kicking, becuase he has been kicking on the lower right side.

Re: Pain.. Am I the only one?

  • I've been having some hip pain lately, but nothing in my back. It's probably nothing, but I would put a call in to your doctor just in case because back pain can be a sign of PTL.

  • I have had pain in my left shoulder. It was actually all the way from my wrist to my shoulder. I researched it and it sounded like carpal tunnel, which can travel up to the shoulder.

I have had a displaced rib after an accident. It is extremely painful. Like hold-your-breath-painful.

I would give it some time and see if it gets worse. If it worsens or doesn't go away, then call your OB. Maybe try a warm bath in the meantime.

  • I had pain in my left shoulder, as well as my whole lower back including hips. But the left shoulder apparently is from everything being pushed up by the baby getting higher up causing your shoulder to feel a lot more pressure.

I was prescribed some Tyenol 3;s. Still have;nt gone to get them because I am on the fence whether I want to take them. Although I won lie, last night i had the worse sleep from the pain....

Maybe worth mentioning to your doctor. I personally have been taken off of work from everything being so irritated :(

  • Likely from the baby pushing up. If lo is pushing up by your spleen that can cause referred pain to the left shoulder. I hope the baby repostions so u r more comfortable.

  • Pain in your shoulder is usually caused by trapped wind/gas or it could be pressure from bub. :) either way i hope you get some relif soon.

  • I have had mid-back/rib pain on the left since week 20 and finally started physical therapy last week after getting no relief from tylenol, heat, ice, massage, rest, changing positions, etc..  Because the physical therapist found a lot of my reflexes in my left foot/leg are absent, he said a nerve is probably being compressed which can also cause a lot of pain.  He mentioned that depending what nerve, it can also cause pain going into the shoulder and arm (which I don't have, but sounds like you may).  I would mention it to the doctor but idk if there's really anything that can be done.  So far my 2 physical therapy sessions plus home exercises/stretches have not been helping my pain Crying
