Edward?

Do you immediately think Twilight when you hear Edward?  Bella had a huge jump from 2008 to 2009, but Edward did not, which makes me think it won't be super popular simply because of Twilight.

But I don't want people to think "sparkly vampire" when they hear the name.  I've never even read the books!

Re: Edward?

  • I don't at all. But I've never read or seen Twilight. I love the name Edward, very classic.
  • Edward Thomas is my boy name.  It is also DH's name.  So no it doesn't make me automatically think of Twilight.  I do think of Twilight when I say DH and my Furbaby's name (Bella).  Not done purposely though.

How funny, Thomas is another name high up on our list!  Love the name :)

  • I really love Edward! I think it's a great name. I do think of Twilight...but when your LO grows up Twilight is bound to be out of style. I'd hope.

  • I personally love the name Edward.  It's a great, strong name and one of my top 5 (although DH isn't a fan)

I immediately thought of Twilight, but I don't think Twilight should stop you from using it. Edward is a classic. Go for it!

  • I sure hope not, I have never seen Twilight either but Edward is my Grandpa's, Dad's, and Oldest Brother's (who is determined to stay a bachelor) middle name so I want to carry on the tradition for him if I have a boy.

  • Not at all - Edward is a strong, classic name. It's on the top of our boys list because it's a family name.

  • In 5 years, no one will remember that Twilight crap.  And most people over age 30 don't care about it now.

  • I like it, but can't use it.  I am a Twilight fan and DH has absolutely banned pretty much any name even mentioned in the series.

  • LOVE Edward!  And no, didn't think of the books, and doubt anyone will in several years, either.

  • It's a great name, and not one that is really exclusive to the series. If you were asking about Cullen I would say it definitely makes me think of Twilight. Go for it!
  • Nope, no vampire thoughts for me. I'm hoping that by the time a little Edward born now is going to school, that Twilight will be a mere memory ;)
  • I, obviously, love Edward! I've never read Twilight...but had the same concern before naming DS2. Not 1 person has asked if his name came from the series.

  • Edward will never get outdated IMO. I don't think of Twilight at all, it stands alone. Wink

  • Seeing as how I'm not 14---no, I don't immediately think of Twilight. I think Edward is a strong, regal name, and a great choice for a son.

I don't, and I'm actually enjoyed reading the Twilight series.  Edward is a great, classic name that completely transcends a current fad.

  • Edward is very classic, so no I don't associate it with Twilight. It was also my grandfather's name, and I hope to use it as a mn (dh vetoed it for a first name).
  • I love the Twilight books and movies.  That being said I do not think of them when I hear the name Edward.
