Does anyone live in Concord?

We are moving to MA in a few months and need to check out more towns. Husband will be in Cambridge or Waltham, depending on a few things, so we are looking west of Cambridge now. Originally we were looking north. I have a 3 month old and an almost four year old so schools are going to be a priority as are a nice suburban, NON city area--and Concord seems like a nice place, but I am from NJ so I have no real idea, lol.

Re: Does anyone live in Concord?

  • Concord has a VERY respected school system and is considered a very nice (and quite wealthy) suburb.  If I could afford it I'd totally live there :) I grew up in Wayland which you might also check out.  Other "nice towns" with reasonable commutes to Waltham/Cambridge would be Belmont, Weston, Lexington, Lincoln, and Sudbury.  They all have some of the highest performing schools in the state and are very quiet, safe places to live. Good luck and welcome to MA!

  • Those towns do all have superb school systems.

Something to keep in mind that you don't know about is that traffic on 128/95 south in the mornings (and north in the evenings) is brutal and will add significantly to commuting time.

I'm a real estate agent in this area so please feel free to let me know if you have any questions!  Best wishes,

  • I have been working in Concord for 10+ years and grew up in Lexington.  Concord is a very nice town and the public schools are great.  Commuting from Concord to Cambridge... route 2 traffic is really bad.  However there is public transportation - Concord has 2 stops  https://mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/lines/?route=FITCHBRG  If he ends up working in Waltham, Lexington borders it... I'm biased -  I like Lexington better ;)  There's a great center, tons of sports stuff, a skating rink.  Lexington doesn't have much besides the bus for public transportation but the commute would be easier from there.  Here's something that ranks elementary schools https://www.psk12.com/rating/USthreeRsphp/STATE_MA_level_Elementary_CountyID_9.html  Acton is next to Concord which might be another town that you would like.  Hope this helps!
