t & p please

Hey ladies! If you could keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers, please. I just found out that I lost my job. It really sucks because between student loans, car payments, mortgage and now a baby I'm not quite sure what we're going to do. I would be first on the sub list, but it's not like I can get a call at 5:30 to sub and then fid daycare so I'm not sure what's going to happen. I honestly thought I was safe this year because of the field (special ed) I'm in so we went ahead and started a family. Now I feel like it's all my fault and I just feel awful.

  • T & P's sent your way.  I know how you feel.  I am on the sub list, but with 70 subs in a town of 5,000 - I don't ever get called much.  I could drive an hour to get jobs every other day... gas is ridiculous.  It isn't your fault!  Enjoy your baby!  Everything works out in the end, it is just money.

  • Again, don't beat yourself up!  I am a Special ed teacher too and I totally understand how you felt secure in your soecialized field.  You're in my T & P for another job to open up....

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. I know it's tough right now but everything will work out!

  • My district is making a lot of cuts too & though I am too high on the seniority list for it to be a factor for me now I told DH if I ever were cut the bright side would be that now you can collect 2 years of unemployment (I think that is what it is now) & I would get to stay home with DD. So look on the bright side (and certainly do not think it is your fault!) though it sucks to get laid off those are definite bonuses!
  • Sorry you're going through this! I'm a teacher, too, and I'm currently on a 1-year contract, so I'm losing my job at the end of the year. I'm definitely worried, because DH and I can't survive on his income alone, but I'm just trying to have faith that things will work out.

Are you eligible for unemployment if you end up not finding something else?

The most important things is that you have your LO and your husband... no matter what happens, you'll find a way to make it work, and everything will be okay.

  • T&P coming your way, but please do not blame yourself for this.  You had no control over it.  You'll get through it!
