giant cupcake recipe?

I am making giant cupcakes for DD's 1st birthday, using the Wilton pan.  It says to use a denser cake, like a pound cake.  Has anyone used this pan - what cake did you use?

I used that for Nat's first birthday - and just used a regular (boxed mix) cake.  I used chocolate in the bottom and white/vanilla in the top.  I worked just fine. I only iced the top - like a normal cupcake - and icing between the two layers. I filled them pretty full, then just used a long knife to cut the tops flat so it would be easy to stack them.
