Austin Babies

What organizations do you belong to?

I'm going into the second year of my term as president for a local chapter of the WRJ.  While I enjoy the work I'm doing, it's sort of limiting to be for a lot of reasons, including being affiliated with my synagogue (where the politics alone are enough to make you tear your hair out.)

So I'm looking at something other organizations to belong to. I'd like to get involved with one and really commit to it.  I'm considering Austin Junior League or Austin Junior Forum.  Since I'm not currently working, I'm not sure how appropriate my joining a professional organization might be.  I would like to get back into the workforce in the next 2-3 years, so who knows.

What organizations do you belong to and what could you recommend?

  • I am a board member for Bake A Wish Austin which is a great organization that bakes cakes for children and senior citizens that are in need. It is a wonderful organization and I really enjoy being a part of it.

  • Wanna volunteer some time for my non profit? ;)

I think I emailed you a while back about Junior League and Junior Forum. So there's that.  There's also Austin Involved, Austin Young Women's Alliance, and Charity Bash... though not sure what Charity Bash's participation entails.

In need of cake?  I'm in need of cake!

    (I kid, that's wonderful!)

That does sound like fun! I wonder if they are the ones that donated to Sa fe Pl ace when I was there. We would have cakes dropped off for the kids who had their birthdays at the shelter. It was really neat that they were still able to celebrate their birthdays with cake.
