I know I thought we decided on Harper, but Evelyn is back in the race (I knew this would happen..). My only issue is a NN. I'm really not into using Eve or Evie... mostly because of a distant cousin I have with the name. If it comes down to it, that's what we can use, but it's not a favorite. I'd like to call her Ellie, but is that too much of a stretch? What do you guys think?
Re: NN for Evelyn
I don't think Ellie is a nn for Evelyn at all, sorry!
What about just "Ev"?
Wait until she is here and decide what to use as a nn then. Nicknames don't need to stem from a name and do not need planning. I call Dillon Mr Monkey Man because he climbs all over the place, Bug - because he is such a little love bug, turkeybird because he is a thanksgiving baby and pickles.
I can assure you when deciding on names, none of these occurred to me, but they are much more fitting then "Dill" or "Lon" or what have you.
Her friends are going to come up with nn of their own too. Maybe some will call her Evie or Ev or by her last name. Then SHE will decide what is right for HER and you will have little say about it.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

If you like the nn Ellie, what about Eleanor? DD is Evelyn, so I LOVE the name! It's a very different style from Harper though, you're eclectic! Anyway we call DD Evie Jane (Jane is her mn) and sometimes just Evie. And for really short Ev.

Wait until she's here for a NN if you insist but Evelyn is nice.
I have a teenaged student named Evelyn. I once asked her if she had or wanted a nickname after I accdientally called her "Ev". She said "no" and continued that she was grateful that she didn't becaue Evie sounds like a small child and she likes her name as a whole. Just a view point from an Evelyn.

One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14
And another Princess coming 7/16
The NN for Evelyn is Evie. In passing, you could call her "Ev" but you certainly couldn't sign a Christmas or thank you card with it.
If you don't like Evie, use the name in full, or find an Ellie name you like. There's a ton of them.
Yes, or Elliott.
