We finally heard back from the contractor about adding an addition to our house. All we wanted to add was an additional bedroom, no extra bathroom or anything. We had planned about $30k for it. Well the bid was $60k! Way over our budget. And I know that other quotes may be lower but that sort of crushed my dreams and forced me to be more realistic. We will be fine in the space we have for a couple years just have to make some adjustments and store some things away.
DS has been wonderful I was really worried about how he would feel about sharing his room with the baby. He currently has a full size bed so that pretty much takes up most of his room. I told him we will need to get him a twin bed but picked him out a really cool loft bed with some storage and drawers in it so he can still have his own area.
And then we are going to look into getting some of those organizers for closets to minimize some dresser use. All in all disappointing but doable and temporary. And will be much cheaper and easier to do for the time being!
Re: Well the addition to our house is a no go!
Well thats no fun!
At least you have the space, and an easy-going older sibling, to make things still happen!
Wow! That's incredibly expensive.
Granted I'm LCOL, but I can't fathom that kind of money for such a small addition. I really might get some more estimates before giving up.
