Does anyone know how Old Navy sizes run?

I am 5'4 and was 130 pre pregnancy. According to there size chart (4-6) I'm a small, but afraid it will be too small. I just don't want to swim in a medium. Anyone know if they run, big or small? Anyone similar size as me, if so what size do you get? TIA!!!

Re: Does anyone know how Old Navy sizes run?

  • Old Navy regular and Old Navy maternity have been the same size for me.  I'm 5'5" and 130 pre pregnancy. I would wear a size 4 in Old Navy.  I bought a few pairs of maternity capris, jeans and shorts in a size 4 maternity and they fit perfect.

  • I was 5'3" and about 128 pre-pregnancy wearing xs or small and size 4-6 in pants. I have a pair of maternity jeans from there that are a size 6 and a little loose.  I got a couple of tanks from there in M and they were a little big but when I washed them they shrunk some.  But then I got some other empire waisted shirts from there and they are huge.  I would say if you want some room to grow into fitted shirts and t's get the M, for others I would go with the small.  It's really kind of hit or miss with ON.

  • I usually find that their shirts run a little big. Online there are ratings on every item that will say if customers think they run small, large, etc. It's really helpful.
  • It really depends. I would say 75% of their stuff runs big and 25% true to size.  I *always* read several reviews before buying something online though.

  • I've found that they fit like their regular sizes.  I'm your height and 117 now and I'm swimming in a size S maternity dress today.
  • I feel like their maternity clothes run big.  I was an 8 pre-pregnancy (at least in pants) an ordered a medium dress and it fell off of me.  Same with a size 8 pair of pants.

  • Old Navy has always been SO hard for me to size, so I went & tried on some maternity stuff there before ordering (we have a store with it across town). I'm 5'4-1/2" and 125-130 pre pregnancy. I wear a 4 in their maternity pants/shorts VERY comfortably- they fit so much better than non-mat. old navy ever did lol. Size small for shirts/dresses too. Remember- if you order something & it doesn't fit, you can return it to ANY old navy store! :)
  • I found they run a little big. . . I bought large shirts and I found that they looked like TENTS on me

  • I'd say they run big (maternity jeans at least).  They also stretch out after you wear them for a little bit.

  • I find they run pretty big.  Pre-pregnancy I'm a size 8 (5'7'' and 135 lbs) but right now I comfortably fit into their size smalls for maternity shirts and pants.

That's what I am thinking. I wanted to order a few dresses (the swim cover up, and some maxi dresses). I went to their store, and bought both small and medium shirts. The reviews are helpful. Thanks everyone!

  • For jeans, I found them to fit true to size.  For tops?  I am normally comfortable in a medium/large, but the maternity medium tops are huge!  I fell in looooove with a shirt that they only had a large, and I bought it up (clearance), so I'm just hoping that it'll fit for a little while when I'm much bigger (Hopefully), but for now, I realize the medium tops will fit through the majority of my pregnancy.

  • i think they run big also, but if they are anything like regular old navy clothes, they will shrink quite a bit when washed.

  • I'm exactly your size (5'4'' 130 prepreg, and have only gained 6 pounds from baby so far).  I can't speak for bottoms, but I've ordered several maternity shirts and dresses and they run HUGE.  Normally I'm a small to medium in their regular clothes (34 DDD boobs so sometimes I needed a medium for that reason) but definitely a small in maternity, even with bigger boobs.  Dresses you could even get away with an XS, if you have smaller boobs.

  • PS--I have the swim cover-up in pink, and the small fits perfect.  It's so cute I'm thinking I need a black one too.

  • i hate old navy sizing. i'm 5'6" and 150 and wear smalls and mediums in shirts. shorts/pants i've worn anywhere from a size 1 to a size 6 in their maternity clothes. their women's sizing is weird for me too but the maternity is horrible.
