I know it's bad to compare milestones but my 5 month old has never pushed up on his arms. He holds his head up well during tummy time and is almost sitting without support when we sit him up. He also does really well in his jumperoo and is putting almost all his weight on his legs when we hold him up. I'm just concerned that he's never pushed up on his arms. Over the weekend we had him on his belly and he was getting his legs underneath him like he wanted to crawl but he will not use his arms at all so he just ended up with his butt up in the air and his face down on the floor.
Anyone else? When did your babies start using their arms? Is this something we should be asking his pedi about?
Re: 5 month old not pushing up on arms at all?
Yes - it is bad comparing milestones - but I think we all do it anyways
DD does exactly what you mentioned with the butt in the air thing and I'm not worried. Sounds like your DS is doing everything great otherwise, so I wouldn't worry at all!
my son hates tummy time. He is older than your son and still not pushing up. He does sit by himself great and will "stand" if he can hang on to something, he just wants to skip this milestone.
Wish I had more advise, I just wanted to say I am worrying about this too!

DS1 never crawled at all. He rolled and then he pulled up and walked along the furniture and walls until one day he just let go and walked. DS2 has started pushing up and looks like he is going to crawl, so no, don't compare! Even brothers are totally different, every baby is.
