yesterday i went for an early u/s to be sure that baby was progressing well. boy, did we get the surprise of a lifetime...
baby A looked great, measuring perfectly and we saw the little heartbeat flicking away...then she found another sac! it was just a yolk sac with no developed embryo like baby A. u/s technician said that she has seen twins measure differently and still turn out fine...and she thought that a nicely developed yolk sac was promising that baby B would keep developing. i go see the doc on wednesday (yesterday was u/s only appt).
did anyone else have an experience like this? i forgot to ask how far along baby B measured if it was just a sac. any info would be great...
Re: did your twins measure differently early on?
I had my first ultrasound at 6-ish weeks, and my doctor didn't even see a 2nd sac! We had the surprise of a lifetime at our 9w ultrasound when we saw 2 little gummy bears dancing around.
So yeah, it is entirely possible that your 2nd baby will catch up in the next few days
Yup! When I had my first US they only saw one sac- nothing even in it, so we were thinking MC was on the way. I ended up in the ER 2 weeks later, still pregnant and now with two. Two big heartbeats...
They always measured three days off. Molly was due Sept 1st and Lilly was due Sept 3rd
I always thought our US tech was screwing with us when she said that! I had two perfect girls at 37w1d/ Aug.13.
I had an u/s at 6w5d. Baby A was measuring 6w3d and Baby B was measuring 6w0d. The RE was worried about Baby B b/c she was nearly a week behind her gestational age. Thankfully, by our next u/s at 8w4d, both babies measured perfectly.
I found out it's pretty common for one multiple to measure behind a bit. Hang in there and best of luck!
baby A always measured bigger, by a couple of oz then at 36w i had an us and there was almost a 2lb difference.
Baby A was 5 lbs 10 oz and Baby B was 7 lb 4 oz. they moved up delivery to 37 w and everyone was perfectly healthy.
