Gliders & Rocking Chairs

Where did you purchase or plan to purchase your gliders/rocking chairs.  I'm looking for an upholstered one with a matching ottoman but it seems like they're all pretty pricey.  I would really like to find one no more than $350 but I'm not having much luck.  Any suggestions?

That is why we got a rocking chair ($88-Walmart) and storage ottoman ($10-Target on sale).  I am very anti-spending big bucks on a rocker when I don't know if my baby will like it.

We couldn't seem to find a glider we liked. I wanted one that reclined and they all seemed too pricey or ugly. We ended up getting a rocker/recliner today. It was at Big Lots (believe it or not, and not hideous) for $275. It is very comfy.

I bought a storkcraft glider that is white and pink with ottoman for 150ish. Its not the BEST quality but it is honestly one of the most comfy ones I have ever sat in. When I got it delivered the box had a scratch that went through to the wood and I called and told them and they said I can either wait for a new one, or paint it over myself and they would send me a $50 target card. I took the money and touched up the paint myself...looks perfect

Ours was a little over 500.00, it is a glider, but it looks like a big plush chair, we purchased it at buybuybaby and we were able to use a 20% off coupon which also helped! We also opted to pick it up in store rather than having it delivered so that saved us another 125.00  or so. Good Luck!

I got a rocker recliner at a local furniture store for about $250.00 on sale.

Our local furniture stores always seem to be having a sale on chairs.

getting ours at walmart baby! the chair and ottoman are $200 together! i'm sure it's not going to be the best quality, but it will get the job done and will at least match the room.

I'm having the same dilemma!! We want a glider with a white wood base (our furniture is all white) but all of them look so cheap or the fabric is not the greatest. To have it made through BRU was $450 and could take up to 3 months. I found one at PB Kids at it would be $700+ which is definitely not happening. I also want it to look gender neutral so we could use it for our next child, even though we're having a boy now. So many decisions!

We were planning on a glider from Target (Storkcraft? something like that) which was $180 for the chair + ottoman. It had received good reviews so yeah. Then my mom's neighbor offered to sell us hers for $60 and since it was comfy I said why not! Today we made some pretty slip covers for the cushions and I'm going to add more cushion to the seat to make it a little more plush.

It JUST got back in stock- was gone for at least 3 weeks! Also free shipping if you site to store! Reviews are mixed- but I won't be picky if I am getting the look AND price I want!

I bought mine from a co-worker for $50, but I seem to remember seeing them for around $200 at BRU. Also, try Burlington Coat Factory if there is one in your area.

Is it comfortable?  That's a pretty good price and it looks nice online.  Were you able to try it out at a store before ordering?

check amazon. They have cheap gliders starting about 150 shipped. I also saw some at kmart for 150. My mom just bought me one from a mom to mom sale this weekend for 125. Check if you have any local mom to mom sales. Or even try craigslist!

Is it comfortable?  That's a pretty good price and it looks nice online.  Were you able to try it out at a store before ordering?

Unfortunately it is online only! Your post prompted me to see if it was back in stock (I have been checking multiple times per week and even emailed walmart...)- so I JUST ordered it because your post made me think about it again! I can let you know after it gets here if you want! I kind of thought that might be what your were looking for- hope it fits the bill for both of us!

I am willing to pay more since we will be putting it in our living room.  (Per my mom's advice.) It reclines so you do not need the separate ottoman.  The gliding motion was what sold me, the other ones I tried rocked instead of glided.

I don't like the look of most gliders, so I opted for a rocking chair that would go with our other furniture after it's done being used for the nursery. I did a lot of searching for both new and vintage items. I wanted something modern that I didn't hate and wasn't obscenely pricey. Apparently if you put the word "modern" with anything "baby" or "nursery" related, retailers think you have thousands of dollars to spend.

I had about the same price range in mind as you. I finally purchased this one from Urban Outfitters. I put it together over the weekend and I'm happy with it:
