my cat weighs as much as the girls (video)

All 3 are 20ish pounds.  Indifferent

But really, why does she come downstairs and tease the girls?  She gets her ears pulled, tail pulled, etc. and has only swatted and scratched (Lily's hand) once.  I think she secretly likes it, or else she wouldn't come downstairs.

It is starting to scare me though, because I feel like I have to be right there when they are around the cat in case someone gets scratched.  If you have a cat, how does he/she do with the babies?

  • Too cute!  I just love the videos of your girls Big Smile

Our cat, Simon, is the same way, he comes into the playroom and plops down in the middle of the floor.  He knows he's going to get mauled with cuddles, but he 'pretends' to be annoyed (lots of skin twitching and moving just out of reach).  He hasn't swiped at them yet, but he has growled, so I try to stay really close when he's around - but I figure by now he knows what he's in for, and can escape easily when he's had enough.

  • It's frustrating, because rather than walk away, Mrs. will sit there annoyed. It's always something, I swear.  Wink

  • We have one cat that doesn't like noise, so he stays away all day while the boys are up and comes out for cuddles when they are napping or asleep at night.  The other cat will tolerate the boys, and comes around and will let them pet him if my husband and I are there.  When he's had enough, he just runs away.  Neither one has ever hissed, swatted, or tried to bite the boys or anyone else-- we are so lucky!

  • I have a 22 yr old Maine *** and she just takes it.  Poor thing can't hear and just loves to be scratched so, most of the time she thinks someone is being nice to her.

We also have a 2 yr old Rag Doll that runs from room to room like a little thief.  She'll peer around the corner and then, run...peer around another corner and run.  lol-

We absolutely had to tap emerson's bottom early on for throwing toys at the cats and thinking it was funny.  It's not acceptable to hurt the animals in our house-bottom line.

ETA-Maincoon...Why would they strike that word out?  We also have had our cats from a very early age, declawed. I know that's not a popular choice but, they don't go outside ever and it saves the furniture and the babies.
