Adoption

Foster question

We are talking about fostering to adopt, but haven't started on all the paperwork etc.  We know a few couples who foster and all of them are SAHMs.  Is that a requirement?  While I would really want to be a SAHM, I just am wondering if that is required, and if not, how does day care work?

Re: Foster question

  • no, not all programs require you to be a SAHM.  It's a matter of finding the right agency/program for you.  My friend did foster to adopt and she worked FT.

it varies by agency, if you go with an agency. if you go straight with the state, it doesn't matter. i know our agency *just* switched and now requires one parent to SAHM. They let go quite a few couples due to this new requirment if they didn't currently have a placement.
